Hello, my step-father passed away and he had an old poster of Ty Cobb. It must have been made after Ty Cobb's death. On the poster it says,
"This was Ty Cobb. America has lost a great American...
The World of Sport has lost its most spirited competitor...
Baseball has lost its most brillant player.
We have lost a true friend."
I have looked online for this poster and have not been able to see any images like this one. Any info would be great.

Where did you get that quote? Ty Cobb was one of the worst tyrants baseball has ever seen. He did things back then that would have landed him 30 to life in jail today.

The part of your quote that says "We have lost a true friend" is a joke or a sympathectic jesture made by someone who was just filling the void.

The man was a miserable old grouch that thought the world was lousy and had "NO" friends and hated everything.
